The Dollar X-Wing
The cardboard model pictured above was my first attempt to build the X-Wing fighter from the Star Wars movies. I used the measurements from this model as basis for the X-Wing design.
The model on the right was built using the first design. It is made from ordinary bond paper. The original cardboard model is on the left. You can see the difference in size and details.
This is a larger picture of the paper model. You can see errors such as the gap in the engine support and the short laser assembly. Notice the warping of the wing and fuselage because of the thin paper. The model is really intended to be printed on cardboard.
This was the final design which corrected the errors and increased the length of the engine exhaust.
The design can be printed on five pieces of 8.5 x 11 cardboard paper. I am planning to sell the building plans for the X-Wing for only a Dollar!!! What do you think? I just have to figure out how to send the plans (and receive payment) due to the limitations of my computer.
A colored version and the Snow Speeder (Empire Strikes Back) is possibly the next project. Any suggestions?
